1. PNP- HPG 63rd Anniversary Celebration – May 9, 2018
The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) held a celebration of their 63rd founding anniversary at Camp Crame in Quezon City. With a theme “Disiplinadong Motorista sa Lasangan, Hatid ay Kaligtasan” (Disciplined Motorists on Highways, Bringing Safety), the program was led by HPG Chief Superintendent Arnel Escobal. For more than six decades now the so called Guardians of the Highways have kept Philippine roads orderly and safe for public motorists with the use of motorcycles. However, some of their motorcycle patrol units have clocked in lots of mileage and the said organization may need to upgrade their equipment for them to be able to patrol our country’s vast road network more effectively.
It is for this reason that the HPG invited the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) to have an exhibit of the latest high-displacement motorcycle offerings from its member-brands.
The highlight of the morning session was the awarding ceremony for outstanding PNP-HPG personnel who have contributed in the decline of car and motorcycle theft by almost fifty percent.
In keeping the roads and highways safe for all road users, PNP-HPG conducted its 1st Road Safety Web Seminar in the afternoon. This seminar was brought to all 18 Regional PNP Offices nationwide by live streaming, enabling those in the regions to listen to the speakers and participate in the open forum by sending their questions through text messaging or email. Among the speakers were from the World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank, European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies (UPNCTS), UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP-CIFAL) and the Department of Transportation.
“Apart from security concerns involving motorcycle-riding suspects and motorcycle theft, the PNP is also challenged by the growing number of road crash deaths and injuries”, said PNP-HPG Director, Police Chief Superintendent Arnel B. Escobal.
Highlight of the afternoon session was the oath taking of the participants as Road Safety Marshalls who vowed to be ambassadors of road safety and security. The activation of the Road Safety Marshall is in line with the PNP’s Oplan Disiplinadong Driver (Disciplined Driver Program) through stakeholders empowerment.
2. PNP-LTO Road Safety Day – July 2, 2018

The Philippine National Police (PNP) through the Highway Patrol Group and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) strengthened their partnership in enriching their road safety advocacy by celebrating the “PNP-LTO Road Safety Day” at the PNP Transformation Oval in Camp Crame.
A signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the PNP represented by PNP Chief Police Director General Oscar Albayalde and the LTO represented by LTO Chief, ASec. Edgar Galvante was held during the event.
The MOA aims to bring more efficiency to law enforcement, and improve the quality of services of both organizations to the public.
PDG Albayalde also led the oath taking of Road Safety Marshalls who are drivers, riders, and conductors who underwent Road Safety Orientations as part of the OPLAN “Disiplinadong Drayber”.
Furthermore, the LTO brought their services to a ‘One-Stop Shop’ wherein the issuance and renewal of licenses, vehicle registrations, and other related documents were made available.
MDPPA and other motor vehicle dealers were also invited to display their best units with the latest safety features. MDPPA members showcased both their most affordable personal commuter variants and latest high displacement motorcycle models to cater both the needs of the PNP and their employees. The exhibit aimed to encourage road users to acquire vehicles with the best safety features to avoid unwanted incidents on roads, resulting from mechanical problems or vehicle defects.
